Failed to execute the request because the ASP.NET process identity does not have read permissions to the global assembly cache. Error: 0x80070005 Access is denied.

I get this from time to time when trying to run a web app from Visual Studio 2005. I’m not suggesting this is safe/secure etc but it solves the problem.

Open IIS, right click on the offending virtual root and select All Tasks > Permissions Wizard. Say yes to everything. Hey presto.
