XNA Physics Engine

I have a master plan (muwa ha ha ha ha). Ok .. back to reality.

Recently (ie an early Xmas present to myself), I bought an XBOX 360, 250 GB with a Kinect sensor. The last games console I bought was a Sega Mega Drive (you do the maths).

I’ve always been a PC man when it came to gaming but I was switched onto the idea to buy an XBOX because I really wanted to play with Kinect on the PC as opposed to XBOX. Anyway long story short, now I’ve decided that 2011 will be the year I finally write a game or games.

I’m targeting XNA because I can write for PC, XBOX and Windows Phone 7 from the same code base and the types of games I am planning to write will appeal on each platform. Essentially, I’m going down the route of the ‘Physics Puzzle’. So in thinking about this I realised how long ago it was that I did any motion physics (high school). A little bit of study later and I have come to conclusion that I need a basic 3D Motion Physics Engine. Nothing overly complex. No elastic body mechanics or anything like that. Maybe I’ll flesh out later but my initial requirement will be to provide an engine that can take positions andĀ velocitiesĀ of objects and apply forces to them, getting a new position as a result.

I’ll be writing posts regarding this topic over the next few weeks, which I will append to this page as they are published.

Enjoy!
